A NEW BEGINNING
By Julie Danielson
January always brings a sense of newness – a new beginning as we celebrate the beginning of a new year. Are you ready for a new beginning? Are you ready to begin again in your homeschooling? I am!
After the holidays, it’s reassuring to me to start our routine again. It’s reassuring to know what our schedule is – to know where we need to be and to be doing it! My son and I thrive on the routines of our schedule. I always look forward to writing out the schedule for the week – writing down each lesson plan for each day. If for some reason I don’t get it done (thank goodness, this happens very rarely), it throws my son off. He likes knowing what he’s supposed to do and it gives him security knowing that Mom has taken the time to write down everything for him.
I look forward to getting out the new calendars every year – starting my new planner for the year. It feels so fresh and new – like all the old is wiped away.
That’s exactly what Christ did for us. He wiped away our sins when He took them on and died for our sins. All we have to do is believe in Him and not only can we look forward to the new year – we can look forward to a new life in heaven – with our Lord.
Be encouraged in your homeschooling. Even if you don’t get things written down each week, your children are learning! Set goals for yourself to make sure you are doing certain things every school day, but don’t beat yourself up for those days when life happens and you don’t get them done. Relax and be refreshed in the Lord each day – read the bible with your children. Teach them the ways of our Lord, Jesus Christ! In the end, that’s the most important thing of all.
