“Ancient of Days”

Right now I’m doing a bible study with my church on the book of Daniel. To say this book has my head swimming is a huge understatement.  I can only imagine how Daniel must have felt while receiving this prophecy from the Lord! We know that Daniel says himself that he was terrified and trembling. Do you sometimes feel the same way in your homeschooling?

Now, don’t get me wrong.  I am in NO way comparing homeschooling to the awesome and prophetic message that Daniel received from the Lord, but I can totally relate to the fear that Daniel felt! Sometimes homeschooling our children can be a very fearful thing.  We want to do our best and, as I said last month, I wanted my children to be the best they could be, and that is a very fearsome thing!

The thing I’m learning from studying the book of Daniel is something we can totally apply to our walk with the Lord and our homeschooling. It’s not about us! It’s about Jesus and as long as we are keeping our eyes on Him and realizing that He will provide exactly what we and our children need, when we need it, we do not have to be fearful!  Isn’t that a comforting thought? We should be praying about what the Lord wants our children to learn and how He wants them to learn it.  We should be giving the Lord each homeschooling day (well, each day, whether homeschooling or not!) and asking Him to guide us and show us His ways.

In Daniel 7:9, it says, “I watched till thrones were put in place and the Ancient of Days wasw seated, His garment was white as snow and he hair of His head was like pure wool.”

The Lord is sitting on His throne!  He knows and loves us better than anyone and He is there yesterday, today and tomorrow; He guides us and wants us to keep our eyes on Him. We mustn’t get caught up in the worldly things and isn’t that what fear is all about?  If you’re feeling over-whelmed, trust in the Lord.  Take a deep breath and give your anxieties over to the One who is the Ancient of Days!  He is all knowing, all loving, all caring, and wants to help us in our homeschooling. Isn’t it a huge relief to allow the Lord to take on our burdens and guide us? Our homes, families and children will be so blessed by it!
