BE THANKFUL

“Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!”

         2 Corinthians 9:15 (NKJV)

As homeschooling families in America, we have so much to be thankful for.    We have the freedom to school our children and chose the curriculum that we think is best, set our own hours, and teach our children the Word of God.  If we want to teach and learn in our jammies, we can!  On these cool mornings, if the children want to cuddle up on the couch with a blanket and read their literature, they can!  What could be better?

This is a good time to learn all about Thanksgiving.  There are so many books available on the study of the first Thanksgiving.  I remember doing one with my children that told the story, gave them coloring pages to color, puzzles to work out, and other fun things. They still remember doing that study and they had fun while learning.  Even if your children are older, like mine, it’s still a wonderful story to share with them.

There are also many websites with information about Thanksgiving, from a Christian point of view.  I wanted to share some of those with you.  Most have something for all age groups and I found them to be truly inspiring:

Tons of information and resources!

You can find lots of information on the web about Thanksgiving, these are just a few.

Also, don’t forget about a nature study this time of year!  There are a lot of birds going through our area because of migration and the leaves are gorgeous! Make a nature notebook and collect your leaves to put inside. Make a note of the birds that you see.  These are fun, yet educational things you can do as a family.

I wish you and your family a very wonderful and Happy Thanksgiving!  Remember to be most thankful for “God’s indescribable gift” – Jesus Christ – who came and died on the cross for us that we would be saved.  That’s a most amazing gift and something we can all be thankful for! Happy Thanksgiving!
