Are you feeling overwhelmed?
Picture this . . . a woman in her sheep costume darting in and out around the Lord’s staff and legs as He tries to gently nudge her onto the right path. She’s fighting and dodging Him at every turn! Can you imagine? Pretty silly picture, isn’t it? Well, not real silly if the woman is you!
This is what I’ve been finding myself doing for the past few months. I’m tired and worn out! Not just from dodging where the Lord wants me, but from the stresses of my life for over the past 2 years. I have been struggling to just get through my daily routine, some days. I know that I’m called to be a homeschool Mom and a homemaker and I also know that I’m called to be a writer that writes to glorify the Lord. However, I’m having days where just doing what the Lord has called me to do is overwhelming! I love being a wife, mother and writer! In fact, my passion is for all these things, so this is really a puzzle to me that I would feel this way. I’m not depressed – just worn out! Do you find yourself struggling with this same issue at times? You’re not alone!
I wish I had a magical answer for us all, but this is what I’m finding out. The only way to get through these overwhelming times, is to just get through them! I also know that this is the time to really be in prayer and saturate myself in God’s Word. I have also found that to have good Christian friends that will listen to me and not judge me is truly a blessing from above! We all need at least one friend who will be there for us and love us for who we are.
As homeschool Moms, who are home most of the time, having a valued friend is essential! Our lives are unique. We need to call on other homeschool Moms and we also need to make ourselves available to other Moms in our group. I know there are other Moms out there, besides me, that are feeling overwhelmed and worn out! We need to be there for each other with love, compassion and understanding.
Okay, back to that woman in her sheep outfit. Let the Lord nudge you gently where He wants you. Rely on the Lord! Call other Moms in the homeschool group or at your church. When you get a call, be a loving friend and supporter for that Mom who needs to share her feelings. Most of all, remember that this time shall pass and let’s just help each other through it!
